Dental technology company Overjet gained FDA 510(k) clearance for its Dental Assist product, which will allow the company to market it to dental practices, according to a May 20 press release.
Dental Assist uses artificial intelligence to measure bone levels in radiographs for the diagnosis and treatment planning of periodontal disease. When compared to measurement made by a team of dentists during testing, the device's measurements had an average difference of 0.3 millimeters. Overjet said the device enables dentists to track progression of periodontal disease overtime for each tooth and gives clear visuals for patients.
Overjet was founded in 2018 and is based in Cambridge, Mass.
