The Indiana House of Representatives approved a bill that outlines the framework for the state to join the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact.
House Bill 1031 allows the state to join the interstate compact, which increases license portability for dentists and dental hygienists, aiming to improve access to dental care, according to Feb. 6 news release from the Indiana House of Representatives Republican Caucus.
The bill also includes provisions for active-duty military members and their spouses to practice in member states with no or reduced fees.
There are 10 states currently in the compact, and 15 additional states have pending legislation to join, according to data from The Council of State Governments.
The bill was introduced by State Rep. Lori Goss-Reaves and now will move to the Indiana Senate for further consideration, the release said.
