Senators introduce bill to help expand dentist pipelines

The Providing Resources and Opportunities for Health Education and Learning Act has been introduced in the Senate, which provides further funding to create and expand dental provider pipelines.

S.4031 would give the Health Resources and Services Administration the ability to award $215 million in grants over five years, according to a July 16 news release from the American Dental Association.

States and institutions of higher learning would be eligible to receive the funding, which would be used to create or expand healthcare provider pipeline programs, including dentists.

The bill prioritizes programs in underserved areas, programs concentrating on increasing the number of primary care providers and programs centered around recruiting students in the same state where the institute is located.

The bill was introduced by Sen. Martin Heinrich of New Mexico and Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, the release said.
