The Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact is a legal agreement between states that aims to create reciprocity and reduce the barriers to license portability. The compact establishes a pathway for dentists and dental hygienists to work in participating states without having to obtain individual licenses for each state.

Five states have already joined the compact, while 11 other states have legislation pending.

The state House passed the bill unanimously Feb. 22. A Senate hearing for the bill was scheduled for March 14.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place November 12–14 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
