Here are four states that have created and passed legislation to combat staffing issues and shortages in the dental industry that Becker's has reported on since Jan. 29:
1. The Florida Legislature is considering two bills that would authorize dental therapists in the state.
2. South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem signed a bill that expands the ability to practice as a dental hygienist under the supervision of a dentist.
3. Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers signed a four-bill package that will allow dental therapists to provide care in the state, among other dental staffing measures.
4. The Georgia General Assembly is weighing a bill that would provide a tax break to dentists and physicians who move to rural areas of the state.
