The House Energy and Commerce Committee unanimously voted to advance the Action for Dental Health Act of 2023 to the House floor for consideration.
The act would renew the Action for Dental Health program from 2024 to 2028, according to a July 19 news release from the ADA.
The Action for Dental Health program sends federal funding to an oral health workforce grant program to aid in dental workforce shortages and access to care issues.
Finding dental hygienists and dental assistants has been "extremely" challenging for practices, with one-third of practice owners actively recruiting, according to the release.
