More than 80 percent of dental practice owners have given dental assistants and dental hygienists on their staff a raise in the past year, according to a poll from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.
The poll was taken as part of the ADA's monthly "Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry" report for the week of June 12. Nine hundred eighty-six respondents answered the question on staff wage increases.
Here is the percentage of the raise that dental assistants and hygienists received:
Dental hygienists
1 to 3 percent raise: 27.7 percent
4 to 6 percent raise: 34.6 percent
7 to 9 percent raise: 14.8 percent
10 percent or more raise: 22.8 percent
Dental assistants
1 to 3 percent raise: 21.6 percent
4 to 6 percent raise: 41.3 percent
7 to 9 percent raise: 15.7 percent
10 percent or more raise: 21.4 percent
