Dental hygienist is the position dentists are having the most difficulty recruiting at their practices, according to a poll from the American Dental Association Health Policy Institute.
Of the 680 respondents, 82.2 percent said that recruiting dental hygienists has been "extremely challenging" and 13.8 percent said that it is "very challenging" to fill the positions.
Here are three other positions dental practices have been recruiting and the level of difficulty they have faced:
Dental assistants
Extremely challenging: 52.3 percent
Very challenging: 33.8 percent
Moderately challenging: 11.1 percent
Dentists
Extremely challenging: 59.1 percent
Very challenging: 19.5 percent
Moderately challenging: 14.3 percent
Administrative staff
Extremely challenging: 45.9 percent
Very challenging: 32.3 percent
Moderately challenging: 16.5 percent
