6 Medicaid, Medicare updates for dentists to know

Here are six updates regarding Medicaid and Medicare for dentists to know:

1. The House Budget Committee's budget blueprint sets the stage for cuts to several safety net programs, including Medicaid.

2. The North Dakota Legislature is considering a bill that would fund a study examining dental healthcare under Medicaid and look at ways to recruit providers to improve access for low-income children, Native American children and people with disabilities. It is also considering Senate Bill 2231, which would add dental coverage to the state's Medicaid Expansion program.

3. The Illinois State Dental Society's 2025 legislative agenda includes pushing for increased Medicaid dental reimbursement rates for children's dental services.

4. Atlanta-based Benevis issued a call to action to lawmakers, urging them to expand eligibility for Medicaid and CHIP to improve children's dental health.

5. The Connecticut State Dental Association urged Gov. Ned Lamont to increase Medicaid reimbursement rates.

6. Starting July 1, dentists enrolled in Medicare will need to add an administrative modifier code to each procedure code on the ADA dental claim form.
