North Carolina dental patient gets help after being incorrectly charged $1K by insurer

A dental patient in North Carolina recently got help from a local news station after she was incorrectly charged for a dental implant, WRAL reported May 13.

Felicia Johnson needed a dental implant after taking medication that affected her teeth, but her insurer, MetLife, denied the claim. This left her with a bill of more than $1,000. She spent months trying to resolve the issue, but was unsuccessful until she contacted WRAL for help.

The news station contacted MetLife and pointed out that Ms. Johnson was actually covered for the implant under her policy. Ms. Johnson received a reimbursement check for the procedure two days later.
