Pennsylvania lawmakers seek to expand dental coverage under Medicaid

Pennsylvania legislators are considering expanding dental services covered by Medicaid, wesa.fm reported Oct. 27.

Much of the state's dental coverage was eliminated in 2011, but bills introduced in both chambers aim to restore it.

Helen Hawkey, executive director at the Pennsylvania Coalition for Oral Health, told the news station that eliminating coverage also has a negative impact on dental students because the students treat Medicaid patients as part of their training.
