Here are six regulatory and legislative proposals, bills and acts impacting the dental insurance and benefits industry that Becker's has reported on since June 14:
1. CMS is considering adding new dental codes for ASCs and assigning codes to ambulatory payment classifications in its proposed 2024 hospital outpatient prospective payment system and ASC payment system rule.
2. The American Dental Association asked CMS for additional provider payment rate transparency on two proposed Medicaid rules.
3. The Dental and Optometric Care Access Act, which would stop dental insurers from setting the fees in-network dentists are able to charge for dental care services not covered by the insurer, received support from the ADA.
4. A bill to reinstate dental benefits under Pennsylvania's medical assistance program was introduced in the state House of Representatives.
5. The Dental Care for Our Troops Act was introduced in both the Senate and House of Representatives.
6. Illinois Gov. J. B. Pritzker signed into law two dental payer reform bills that will go into effect Jan. 1, 2024.
