Class action law firm Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe started an investigation into Managed Care of North America Dental after the insurer was hacked in May, which impacted nearly 9 million patients.
The firm is investigating if Managed Care failed to properly protect the data of its patients and if it violated any state or federal laws, according to a June 22 news release.
This is the second law firm that has launched an investigation into Managed Care. Consumer rights firm Hagens Berman began its investigation on June 1.
Information that was taken during the data breach includes patient contact information, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, health insurance information, dental care information, bills and insurance claims.
