UnitedHealthcare Dental has launched several digital resources and a partnership with oral care product manufacturer Quip to enhance care for its members, the insurer said Feb. 9.
The company expanded its 24/7 virtual dental care to include two appointments per year with no cost sharing. It also added a treatment plan calculator to give oral healthcare professionals and members information on treatment options and cost estimates to prevent surprise billing. The insurer said it will honor the original estimate if the actual cost after service exceeds the estimated cost previously given by the calculator.
Its partnership with Quip offers members a 30 percent discount on Quip's smart electric toothbrushes and product bundles. UnitedHealthcare also established a separate dental plan for employers with 100 to 2,000 employees in Illinois, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., that includes a free smart electric toothbrush and the option to earn up to $600 for meeting daily oral healthcare goals, such as brushing for two minutes twice per day.
