Oklahoma dental clinic seeing fewer patients after Medicaid expansion

Enid, Okla.-based Great Plains Family Dentistry saw fewer patients during its second round of free dental care as more patients enroll in the state's Medicaid program, Enid News & Eagle reported Oct. 2.

The dental clinic saw 65 patients during its most recent round of free dental care, compared to 133 patients during its first round in May. The clinic is reportedly one of two in the area to accept Medicaid patients.

Oklahoma added preventive dental coverage in July for patients enrolled in SoonerCare, the state's Medicaid program.

Representatives from the Oklahoma Health Care Authority were present during the event to enroll more patients into the program.
