Health insurer Delta Dental will be sending out a survey to its patients nationwide in an effort to gain insight into the patient experience and enhance patient-centered care, according to a May 19 press release.
The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey was first created in 1995 by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. It is an anonymous questionnaire that asks patients about their oral healthcare experiences, including their dental plan and services of their dental office.
The U.S. military was the first to use the CAHPS Dental Plan Survey in 2006 for the Tricare dental services program. Delta will be the first commercial health insurer to administer the survey nationally.
Delta Dental is based in Oak Brook, Il. and has a network of approximately 156,000 participating dentists covering more than 80 million Americans.
