Dentsply Sirona makes major leadership changes; appoints interim CEO and president, COO: 7 things to know

Dentsply Sirona's board of directors made leadership changes to help the company achieve success in the global dental market, according to Markets Insider.

Here are seven things to know:

1. The board accepted resignations from CEO and Director Jeffrey Slovin, Executive Chairman Bret W. Wise as well as President and COO Christopher Clark.

2. Dentsply Sirona said the resignations and new appointments were not a result of issues or disagreements with the company's practices, accounting policies or financial disclosures.

3. The board named Mark Thierer interim CEO and Bob Size interim president and COO. With 30 years-plus healthcare industry experience, Mr. Thierer was the CEO of OptumRx. Mr. Size was the SVP of Dentsply Sirona from January 2007 through June 2017.

4. The company also appointed Eric Brandt as non-executive board chairman. Regarding the changes, Mr. Brandt said, "Dentsply Sirona's board of directors strongly believes that the company is well-positioned to achieve its business objectives and deliver value for its shareholders, and that new leadership is critical to achieving success."

5. The board also decreased its board size from 11 to nine directors.

6. Additionally, Dentsply's board of directors approved an amendment and restatement of the company's by-laws. Some of these by-laws eliminated various provisions Dentsply created when it completed its merger to form Dentsply Sirona. For more on these by-laws, click here.
