The Center for Research and Education in Technology opened an innovation center at West Virginia University School of Dentistry in Morgantown.
Here are six observations:
1. The CRET Innovation Center provides fourth year students the opportunity to learn the latest in dental digital technologies while providing community members oral healthcare.
2. CRET and WVU designed the innovation center jointly to resemble a fully functional private dental office. The center also features five dental operatories for dental surgery.
3. Additionally, WVU students will receive critical practice management experience through the program.
4. CRET already opened innovation centers at the Loma Linda (Calif.) University School of Dentistry and University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. Each center comes equipped with technology from Henry Schein, Denstply Sirona, Premier Dental, Porter Instruments, Ultradent and more.
6. CRET is a nonprofit organization of dental industry leaders that partners with academic institutes to develop technology education programs for dental students, dental residents and dental faculty.
7. WVU dental and dental hygiene students have seen more than 17,000 patients and performed more than 32,000 procedures over the past 10 years.
