45% of parents miss work due to children's oral health issues: 5 insights

In a recent Delta Dental survey, 45 percent of parents said they missed some work due to their child's oral health issues, up 6 percent from 2015.

Here are five insights:

1. Delta Dental surveyed more than 1,500 parents who all had children ages six to 12.

2. The survey also found 14 percent of parents missed four to 10 hours of work and 10 percent missed one to three hours of work due to their children's oral issues.

3. Delta Dental advises parents to take their children for a checkup at the beginning of the school year if they were unable to visit the dentist over the summer.

4. Delta Dental is the nation's leading dental benefits provider, covering more than 75 million individuals.

5. Delta Dental's network consists of approximately 152,000 dentists who provided 59 million dollars of dental care in 2015.
