ProHEALTH Dental entered into a clinical and academic affiliation agreement with the Mount Sinai Health System and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, both in New York City.
Here are five takeaways:
1. The partnership is designed to foster a collaborative program to address poor oral health and chronic disease by expanding dental training, education and services.
2. To support its oral health initiative, ProHEALTH Dental will open a new facility in Long Island City, N.Y., on Oct. 1, 2017, and will continue to open facilities throughout Queens next year.
3. Andrea Perez, DDS, clinical instructor of dentistry at the Icahn School of Medicine will serve as chief dental officer of ProHEALTH Dental's new facility.
4. The affiliation agreement also expands Mount Sinai's dental residency program through the rotation of its first and second year residents in ProHEALTH Dental facilities.
5. ProHEALTH Dental partners with health systems and medical groups to coordinate dental services with primary care medical services and promote oral health. In addition, the company develops dental offices to provide preventative and restorative dentistry.
