Henry Schein donates $90k to Cohen Children's Hospital: 5 takeaways

The Henry Schein Oral Health Navigator Program donated $90,000 to the New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Cohen Children's Medical Center to provide children fighting cancer dental care.

1. The donation will go towards providing 200 children with dental care over the course of three years.

2. Henry Schein's Oral Health Navigator Program is designed to help young patients avoid oral health related complications during cancer treatment. The program works closely with hematologists, oncologists and dentists through diagnosis, evaluation and treatment.

3. Since the program was established in March 2015, 211 patients consulted with the Oral Health Navigator in their hospital rooms, 10 received treatment in an operating room setting and 28 were seen in the Strausman Center for Pediatric Dentistry at Cohen Children's Medical Center.

4. Treatments include removal of orthodontic appliances, teeth extraction, restorative dentistry, endodontic therapy, incision and drainage of abscesses, impressions for retainers and pain management.

5. Recently, Henry Schein donated $250,000 in healthcare products to the hospital in support of a new dental operatory within the medical center.
