HHS grants 12 Louisiana centers $4.3M to provide dental care: 4 notes

On June 16, HHS granted 12 Louisiana health centers $4.3 million to expand dental services and enhance oral health outcomes, according to nola.

Here are four notes:

1. Some of the health centers obtaining funds include:
•    Excelth in New Orleans: $525,000
•    Jefferson Community Health Care Centers in Avondale: $350,000
•    Marillac Community Health Centers in New Orleans: $350,000
•    New Orleans AIDS Task Force: $350,000
•    St. Charles Community Health Center in Luling: $350,000

2. HHS aid the money was a part of a $156 HHS million investment in 420 health centers. HHS granted money to centers in 47 sates as well as Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

3. Through the funds, HHS said health centers can hire nearly 1,600 oral care professionals to treat 785,000 new patients.

4. The announcement follows reports that three out of four children with Medicaid insurance in Louisiana and three other states did not receive required dental care over a two-year period.
