Greenville, N.C.-based East Carolina University's School of Dental Medicine opened a community service learning center in Bolivia, N.C., according to Star News Online.
Here are four notes:
1. ECU learning centers combine dental clinical education and patient care.
2. Faculty members lead fourth-year dental students and general surgery residents through clinical rotations.
3. The 7,700-sqaure-foot facility houses 16 operatories, state-of-the-art equipment, a wheelchair lift, three-dimensional imaging and an endodontic microscope.
4. Other ECU centers are located throughout North Carolina in Ahoskie, Elizabeth City, Davidson County, Lillington, Robeson County, Spruce Pine and Sylva.
