Cost deters patients from seeking dental care — 4 notes

Many patients forgo elective healthcare or dental treatment due to cost, as found in a Google survey. Google conducted the survey on behalf of CareCredit, a healthcare financing company.

Here are four notes:

1. Of the respondents, 52.6 percent cited cost as the reason they delayed elective healthcare or dental treatment.

2. If they had been aware of healthcare financing options, 27 percent reported they would have obtained treatment sooner.

3. Almost half (43.7) percent said they didn't know financing options existed for elective healthcare, such as dental care.

4. Nearly 45 percent said they could not afford an elective healthcare treatment costing $1,000.
