American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation reaccredited University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, according to UConn Today.
Here are five notes:
1. The Commission conducts a comprehensive review of dental programs every seven years.
2. In their review, the Commission evaluates and assesses each program's quality before granting reaccredidation.
3. Eighteen surveyors evaluated UConn School of Dental Medicine for three-days and conducted interviews with leadership, administrators, faculty, students and residents.
4. Prior to the review, the dental school conducted a self-analysis and self-study report analyzing its resources, curriculum, policies and operational standards.
5. "The UConn School of Dental Medicine received no recommendations, the best outcome that can be achieved by a dental school," said Steven Lepowsky, DDS, UConn School of Dental Medicine's senior associate dean for education and patient care. "This demonstrates that the school meets or exceeds all the standards set forth by CODA. This is a remarkable achievement for a dental education program – even more so for a school with a large number of advanced education programs."
