Drs. Paul Weber, Dan Larschied & more — 6 dentists making headlines

Here are six dentists in the news from the past week.

A Miami dentist, Isidoros Mereos, DDS, won the Patient Choice Award.  Dr. Mereos practices at Precious Smile Cosmetic Dentistry in Miami.

Duluth, Minn.-based Woodland Family Dental's Dan Larschied, DDS, is traveling to Belize to provide care and educate residents on dental hygiene. He will travel with other members of the practice.

Paul Weber, DDS, partnered with a Cooperstown, N.Y.-based agency to provide care to local children. Every other Monday since January, Dr. Weber examines low-income children's teeth and provided dental services, according to The Daily Star.

Kevin Hogan, DDS, completed three courses on dental implant placement techniques. The South Carolina dentist completed his training at Misch International, the Triangle Dental Institute and the Zimmer Institute

The Texas Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry partnered with Montgomery County Women's Center. Guy Lewis, DDS, leads the center, which spent time over the holidays shopping for presents and decorating MCWC's facility with decorations. MCMW has provided aid and refuge to domestic violence and sexual assault victims for more than 30 years.

Along with other Idaho dentists, Jack Klure, DDS, is seeking higher reimbursement from Medicaid so Dr. Klure can see more patients. Many Idaho dentists have not taken Medicaid patients due to very low reimbursement. Over the last 10 years, dental reimbursement has decreased nearly 25 percent, according to Idaho Statesman.
