Drs. Fred Crook, Vincent Monticciolo & more — 6 dentists making the news

Here are six dentists making the news this week.

Former Atmore (Ala.) dentist Fred Crook, DDS, died on Jan. 25, 2016 after battling pancreatic cancer. He practiced dentistry in Atmore for 26 years.

Kendallville, Ind.-based Jansen Family Dentistry celebrated 35 years in practice.  James Jansen, DDS, works alongside his brother Doug Jansen, DDS, at the practice. Mayor Suzanna Handshow presented Dr. James Jansen with a framed certificate of appreciation from the city.

General Practice Study Group met to discuss the current obstacles in dentistry. Thomas Feder, DDS, is the group's president, and said the group is dedicated to finding the most updated services to provide patients quality care.

Mankato, Minn.-based Open Door Health Center welcomed Ashley Turrittin, DDS, to its team. Dr. Turrittin is a pediatric dentist who earned her doctor of dental surgery from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in Minneapolis.

On Feb. 5, Vincent Monticciolo, DDS, will offer free dental services through his Dentistry of the Heart event. Dr. Monticciolo brought Dentistry of the Heart to New Port Richey, Fla., in 2001, according to The Suncoast News.
