The University of Texas School of Dentistry, Holly Hall Retirement Community partner to benefit community — 5 observations

Houston-based The University of Texas School of Dentistry and Holly Hall Retirement Community entered into a working partnership to bring dental care to retirees, according to Chron.

Here are five observations:

1. UT second-year dental students will go to HHRC each week to administer oral health assessments and education programs for residents and their families.

2. If patients need specific dental treatments, students refer them to their personal dentists or to the School of Dentistry.

3. The school is merely five minutes to 10 minutes away from HHRC, making the site convenient for students.

4. The partnership aims to facilitate ongoing interprofessional relationships between dental students and HHRC's healthcare team.

5. Diane Parmer, HHRC executive director, said, "Our residents feel blessed to have the students at work on the campus providing oral screenings and educational services. It is a win-win situation for everyone: an increase in service to our residents to improve their overall health and the ability to be a part of the training for dental students."
