Delta Dental of Rhode Island, a dental insurer, donated more than $1 million to clinics and health professionals in Rhode Island to administer oral healthcare to residents, according to Rhode Island Public Radio.
Here are four facts:
1. The payer granted $350,000 to the Samuel Sinclair Dental Center at Rhode Island Hospital, $350,000 to The Blackstone Valley Community Health Care, $350,000 to Providence Community Health Centers, $15,000 to the Scituate Health Alliance and $12,000 to Thundermist Dental Tent at Operation Stand Down.
2. Delta Dental announced the grants at a news conference at the Rhode Island Foundation in Providence.
3. U.S. Sen. Jack Reed attended the event along with Neil Steinberg, CEO of R.I. Foundation and Timothy Babineau, MD, CEO and president of Lifespan.
4. Delta Dental is the state's largest health insurance company.
