The Academy of Osseointegration has issued an open letter to dental graduates, with 10 main tips for the graduates as they move into the dental world.
Here are the 10 tips from AO:
1. Learning never stops; always stay a student and stay on top of thinking.
2. Dentistry humbles even the best, so be critical of your work but celebrate your successes.
3. Make treatment decisions based on WIDOM; "would I do it on me?"
4. Always "measure twice and cut once."
5. Be a part of a team you trust.
6. Seek advice from a financial expert on loan repayments and future planning, as well as with investments.
7. Challenge yourself; "excellence is a process, not an event."
8. Know your limitations and be forthright about your level of experience.
9. Being involved in your profession is the best continuing education you will have; be active in associations and use them to network and learn.
10. You are in control of your career; it's up to you to make the most of it.
