Senate Bill 2354 would allow advanced dental hygienists to provide a greater scope of care in North Dakota in an effort to expand dental care in rural areas of the state, according to a report by The Bismarck Tribune.
The bill is sponsored by Senator Dick Dever (R-Bismarck).
Dental hygienists in North Dakota are currently allowed to perform preventative services, but this legislation would expand their capabilities to include simple procedures such as fillings and extraction.
The bill is set to be heard by the Senate Human Services Committee on Tuesday.
