Manu Chaudhry, DDS, president and dental director at Salem, Ore.-based Capitol Dental Care, shared his work experience, how COVID-19 is affecting the dental industry and advice for leaders on Becker's Dental + DSO Podcast.
Dr. Chaudhry is also a board member at Santa Clara, Calif.-based Healthier Kids Foundation. His experience includes work at a community center in California and managing the care of Medicaid patients in Oregon.
Here are Dr. Chaudhry's three pieces of advice for leaders:
1. Self-educate. Find new ventures and continue to educate. Adopt an "infinite mindset."
2. Stay connected. Dentists can benefit by keeping connections with mentors, dental school classmates and professors.
3. Focus on the patient and their integrated health needs. Dentists need to acknowledge the full mind and body health of patients and how it connects to dental care. A multidisciplinary focus can help bridge the gap across health disparities.
