The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine appointed Marnie Oakley, DMD, interim dean.
The appointment follows the transition of Bernard Costello, DMD, MD, from his role as dean to associate vice chancellor for health sciences integration, according to an Aug. 29 news release.
Dr. Oakley is currently the school's vice dean and associate dean for clinical affairs.
She is credited with the development and implementation of the school's comprehensive care program, which provides patients with oral health services that contribute to their overall health.
Dr. Oakley has become a national leader in the dental community, serving as a consultant to other schools and a mentor with the American Dental Education Association.
