Nine dental schools have appointed deans so far this year.
Here are nine deans appointed to lead dental schools since January:
1. Lily Garcia, DDS, will step down as dean from the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine to join Dallas-based Texas A&M University College of Dentistry as its new dean in October.
2. The Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine in Pomona, Calif., appointed Elizabeth Andrews, DDS, its new dean.
3. André Ritter, DDS, PhD, was appointed dean of the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle, effective Sept. 16.
4. Patrick Lloyd, DDS, joined the Stony Brook (N.Y.) University School of Dental Medicine as its new dean July 1.
5. The University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor named Dr. Jan Ching Chun Hu its interim dean in May.
6. The University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill appointed Janet Guthmiller, DDS, PhD, as dean, effective Oct. 15.
7. In March, Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Wash., tapped Fotinos Panagakos, DMD, to be the founding dean of its upcoming dental school.
8. Susan Rowan, DDS, joined the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry as interim dean in April.
9. Lyndon Cooper, DDS, Ph.D., joined the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond as its new dean in April.
