Benevis releases report on the top oral healthcare trends: 5 things to know

Atlanta-based Benevis released a report on the trends shaping the current oral healthcare industry, according to a Jan. 2 news release from the company.

Here are five things to know:

1. The rise of DSOs, the integration of AI into dentistry and enhanced access to care are the three main trends changing the industry.

2. More dentists are joining DSOs, in part driven by staffing shortages and reimbursement issues. DSOs can provide dentists and larger group practices with administrative support to combat operational challenges.

3. The percentage of adults in the U.S. seeking preventive dental care increased between 2022 and 2023, showing the increasing awareness of the connection between oral health and overall health.

4. The utilization of dental and oral healthcare services rebounded following COVID-19, further demonstrating that access to care has improved.

5. In 2024, dental practices and DSOs utilized AI to help streamline patient management. In 2025, dental AI is projected to become further integrated, having a larger role in diagnosis, administrative functions and dental.
