11 specialty DSOs to know

Several specialty-focused DSOs and MSOs have made a name for themselves in recent years by launching alternative affiliation options for providers and creating expansive networks across the U.S.

Here are 11 organizations to know: 

Allied OMS (Southlake, Texas). Allied OMS supports more than 43 locations across 12 states. The DSO is focused in the oral and maxillofacial surgery space. The company closed on a $116 million credit facility earlier this year, its first round of outside funding. 

Beacon Oral Specialists (Dallas). Established in 2020, Beacon Oral Specialists has grown to include more than 90 locations in 11 states. Beacon is one of the largest OMS-focused management service organizations in the U.S. 

Bond Orthodontic Partners (Frisco, Texas). Bond Orthodontic Partners' unique joint-venture model equips orthodontic offices with resources to grow their practices and brands. Bond has grown rapidly since its 2021 inception, spanning over 40 locations in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Washington.

Endodontic Practice Partners (Nashville, Tenn.). Endodontic Practice Partners recently secured a $20 million upsizing of its senior debt facility from TPG Twin Brook Capital to continue affiliating with endodontic practices and improve offerings to current partners. Endodontic Practice Partners supports 71 practice locations and nearly 100 endodontists across nine states. 

Max Surgical Specialty Management (Hackensack, N.J.). Max Surgical Specialty Management is a surgeon-led oral and maxillofacial platform launched in 2023 that is dedicated to partnering with renowned surgeons across the U.S. The company supports more than 20 offices in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont. 

Oral Surgery Partners (St. Louis). Oral Surgery Partners supports over 100 oral surgeons and more than 70 practices across 20 states. The company recently secured a $75 million credit expansion to fuel further growth. 

Smilebliss Orthodontics (Metairie, La.). Smilebliss Orthodontics, founded in 2021, offers a unique support model for orthodontists, providing marketing, operational and equipment assistance without requiring them to give up ownership. 

Smile Doctors (Dallas). Smile Doctors is the largest orthodontics-focused DSO in the U.S. and has continued its rapid expansion in 2024 by adding four new affiliates and 15 locations. Smile Doctors now supports more than 450 locations nationwide, further solidifying its presence across 31 states. 

Southern Orthodontics Partners (Nashville, Tenn.). Southern Orthodontic Partners  launched in 2019 and specializes in supporting orthodontic practices in operational, administrative and strategic capacities while ensuring clinicians maintain clinical autonomy. This specialty DSO is associated with more than 45 orthodontic practices across 13 states. 

Specialty1 Partners (Houston). Specialty1 Partners is the parent company of Endo1 Partners, OS1 Partners and Perio1 Partners. In 2022, Inc. magazine recognized Endo1 as one of fastest growing private companies in the Southwest. Specialty1 has more than 320 specialists and 200 affiliated practices over 27 states. 

U.S. Oral Surgery Management (Irving, Texas). U.S. Oral Surgery Management supports a network of more than 180 offices in 27 states. The company gained a $150 million credit expansion to support its growth beyond 2024. It also earned the Association of Dental Support Organizations' 2024 Emerging Award for its growth and leadership in the industry.
