Competition among DSOs has skyrocketed this year as several new organizations have entered the field, introducing unique operational models and meeting the evolving expectations of dentists. 

Here are 65 DSOs to know in 2024:

This list is in alphabetical order and is not exhaustive. Organizations included submitted nominations or have previously been highlighted by Becker's. Dental service organizations cannot pay for inclusion on this list.

42 North Dental (Waltham, Mass.). Founded in 1980 as Gentle Dental Partners by Dr. Ronald Weissman and Dr. Samuel Shames, 42 North Dental became a DSO in 2007. The organization had its first out-of-state expansion in 2012 and now supports over 108 practices across Connecticut, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire and New York. With strategic partnerships with Invisalign, Women in DSO, the Second Step and the Association of Dental Support Organizations, 42 North Dental supports more than two dozen dental brands at 84 locations across these states.

Abra Health (Roseland, N.J.). Abra Health is a dental and medical support organization offering services in general and pediatric dentistry, pediatric primary care and orthodontics. Operating brands including Abra Health, Smiles4Keeps and Pearly Whites, this organization aspires to provide integrated medical and dental services to underserved communities in its practice regions, which include New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Advanced Dental Brands (Canton, Mass.). Advanced Dental Brands partners with a variety of dental services to ensure seamless transitions and operational efficiency, providing support in marketing, IT, recruiting, service expansion and more. Founded by Dr. Richard Miller and led by CEO Joel Idelson, this DPO focuses on maintaining the unique qualities of each practice while eliminating business-related challenges to enhance patient care.

Affinity Dental Management (Holyoke, Mass.). Affinity Dental Management was founded in 2017 as a comprehensive practice management and administrative support services company for practices in the Northeast region. The dentist-run organization consists of more than 40 practices and is committed to offering quality patient care as well as practice support. Affinity Dental Management has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing private companies for several years.

Affordable Care (Morrisville, N.C.). Affordable Care’s expertise lies in tooth replacement solutions, serving brands such as Affordable Dentures & Implants and DDS Dentures + Implant Solutions. This organization enhances patient care by managing nonclinical responsibilities and providing same day service in its practices. Affordable Care continues to grow its network in 2024, adding offices in Wyomissing, Pa.; Lynwood, Wash.; Lewisville, Texas; and several others. 

Allied OMS (Southlake, Texas). Allied OMS supports more than 43 locations across 12 states. The DSO is focused in the oral and maxillofacial surgery space. The company closed on a $116 million credit facility earlier this year, its first round of outside funding. 

Archway Dental Partners (Danbury, Conn.). Archway Dental Partners was launched this year, building on the 53-year legacy of Dental Associates of Connecticut. The DSO looks to partner with general dentistry, pediatric, orthodontic, oral surgery, periodontic and endodontic practices in the Northeast. Its network includes more than 70 doctors.

Beacon Oral Specialists (Dallas). Established in 2020, Beacon Oral Specialists has rapidly grown to include more than 90 locations in 11 states. Beacon is one of the largest OMS-focused management service organizations in the U.S. 

BeBright (Minnetonka, Minn.). Founded with the purpose of creating smiles and providing superior dental outcomes, beBright focuses on pediatric dentistry and orthodontics, utilizing a dual specialty integrated care model. Established by InTandem Capital Partners, beBright is a doctor-owned and led shared services organization. It launched with 17 initial offices across Minnesota, Nebraska, and Tennessee, with five foundational practice centers: two in Minnesota, two in Nebraska, and one in Tennessee. Committed to improving patient outcomes and delivering unique experiences, beBright offers doctors clinical independence, peer collaboration, and robust administrative and operational support.

Benevis (Atlanta). Founded in 2002, Benevis supports 120 practices. More than 80 percent of patients at Benevis-supported practices are on Medicaid or CHIP plans, and Benevis has provided care to more than 5 million patients in underserved communities. Benevis is part of the 18% of dental providers that manage a Medicaid population that includes more than 100 child visits each year.

Bond Orthodontic Partners (Frisco, Texas). Founded in 2021 by CEO Azar Zaidi and COO Sheila Bracker, Bond Orthodontic Partners is an orthodontic service organization dedicated to forming collaborative partnerships with orthodontists to enhance patient care and practice growth. Their unique joint-venture model equips orthodontic offices with resources to grow their practices and brands. Bond has grown rapidly since its inception, spanning over 40 locations in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Washington.

Bright Direction Dental (Chicago). Bright Direction Dental, a dentist-led organization, affiliates with practices across 11 Midwestern states and has offices in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. The DSO is committed to advancing oral healthcare and enhancing the patient experience. Bright Direction Dental supports its practices with recruiting, marketing, human resources, finance, risk management, IT support, and labs and materials procurement, aiding general dentists throughout the Midwest.

Cal Dental USA (Los Angeles). Cal Dental, launched in 2015, has been recognized by the Financial Times as one of the fastest-growing companies, boasting a 96% absolute growth rate and nearly doubling its revenue between 2019 and 2022. A key strategy setting Cal Dental apart is its partnerships with sports industry figures, recently adding former NBA players Lamar Odom and Kendrick Perkins as partners. These partnerships aim to support practices and give back to the community, merging entertainment and sports with the dental industry. Cal Dental now supports over 20 offices in California and continues to expand its innovative and community-focused approach.

Chord Specialty Dental Partners (Nashville, Tenn.). Chord Specialty Dental Partners supports more than 60 practices across six states and has an emphasis on pediatric dentistry. The company rebranded from Spark Dental Management to Chord Specialty Dental Partners in April 2024. The DSO was named to the annual Inc. 5000 list, ranking at No. 699 overall.

Community Dental Partners (Denton, Texas). Community Dental Partners aims to revolutionize dental care for underserved markets. With over 70 locations nationwide, Community Dental Partners offers tailored practices for both pediatric and adult dentistry. The organization emphasizes a supportive culture designed to elevate success, backed by a quality support team. Co-founded by Emmet Scott, Community Dental Partners stands out by ensuring an exceptional experience for everyone involved.

Dental Care Alliance (Sarasota, Fla.). Dental Care Alliance is one of the largest DSOs in the U.S., boasting more than 400 practices in 24 states. The company has marked several accomplishments this year, including implementing Overjet's artificial intelligence technology across its platform, becoming the first large-scale DSO to launch guided biofilm therapy to its network and making Newsweek's 2024 lists of the top workplaces for job starters and for mental well-being. 

Dental365 (New Hyde Park, N.Y.). Founded in 2014, Dental365 is a comprehensive dental group supporting 135 practices across New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The dentist-run organization is dedicated to providing top-tier clinical care using the latest technology, including SalivaScore, a screening tool for the early detection and prevention of periodontal disease. The company is also consistently recognized as one of the fastest-growing dental companies.

Endodontic Practice Partners (Nashville, Tenn.). Endodontic Practice Partners, an RC Capital portfolio company, partners exclusively with endodontic-focused practices. The organization recently secured a $20 million upsizing of its senior debt facility from TPG Twin Brook Capital to continue affiliating with endodontic practices and improve offerings to current partners. Endodontic Practice Partners supports 71 practice locations and nearly 100 endodontists across nine states. Recently, the organization added Heartland Endodontics in Sebring, Fla., led by Dr. Gayle Obermayr, to its network.

Espire Dental (Denver). Espire Dental operates as an integrated dental organization to create large group practices under one brand. Founded in 2018, the company supports 30 total practices and was named a top workplace in 2024.

Flagship Specialty Partners (Charlotte, N.C.). Flagship Specialty Partners supports 10 practices providing oral and facial surgery, implants and prosthodontics in South Carolina and North Carolina. The DSO focuses on helping practices increase year-over-year revenue, strengthen referral networks and build high-performing teams. All of its practices are accredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care. Flagship recently added Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery, with seven offices throughout the state, to its network. Flagship Specialty Partners now supports more than 40 locations and 70 providers across Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Foundation Dental Partners (Alpharetta, Ga.). With a commitment to transparency and partnership, Foundation recognizes the individual needs of a dental practice and works to support practice leaders in ownership and transitions. Alongside its offices in Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee, the company acquired 10 practices in Tennessee and Kentucky in July 2023.

Freedom Dental Partners (Montclair, N.J.). Supporting its partners in practice growth and sales efforts with its Become the DSO and Mastermind programming, Freedom Dental Partners equips its partners with tools to ensure business success. Freedom is aligned with 342 dental practices across 42 states. This organization also has minority ownership of Rev One Dental, a first of its kind, majority doctor-owned DSO led by CEO Brady Frank, DDS, who is also a co-founder of Freedom Dental.

Gen4 Dental Partners (Tempe, Ariz.). Since launching in 2021, Gen4 Dental Partners has expanded its network to include more than 100 practices in 14 states. Gen4 also secured a $315 million credit facility this year to continue its growth and invest in technology. The DSO aims to go beyond traditional dental consolidation models by preserving the identities of its partners and establishing a collaborative environment that encourages growth and innovation.

GPS Dental (Jonesboro, Ark.). GPS Dental is dedicated to supporting dentists who are passionate about providing exceptional dental care but are in need of additional support for managing their practices. The DSO offers support to dentists in all stages of their careers, including those right out of residency and those who are looking to sell their practice. GPS Dental recently hit 90 offices and entered its 24th state this year.

Great Expressions Dental Centers (Southfield, Mich.). This DSO network encompasses over 900 dental professionals guided by a dedicated National Doctor Panel consisting of 11 experienced leaders in dentistry, orthodontics and other specialties. Founded in this DSO now operates across 300 sites in states including Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Texas. 

Guardian Dentistry Partners (Miami). Founded in 2018, Guardian Dentistry Partners supports more than 160 practices across 11 states. The DSO is led by CEO Danny Kawas.

Heartland Dental (Effingham, Ill.). Heartland Dental has a network of more than 1,700 practices, making it the largest DSO in the country. The company was founded in 1997 by Rick Workman, DMD. The company supports more than 20,000 employees, including more than 2,800 dentists.

Imagen Dental Partners (Scottsdale, Ariz.). By providing centralized support services, long–term planning among other tools for success, Imagen Dental Partners enables dental professionals to retain clinical autonomy of their practice while benefiting from a robust support network. This DPO has dozens of practices across 15 states and continues to expand.

Lone Peak Dental Group (Denver). Since 2003, Lone Peak Dental has expanded from its initial three locations in Denver to more than 75 offices throughout 14 states, with some practices deliberately located in areas to care for underserved communities. This organization utilizes their unique Kidsperience model, dedicated to going above and beyond in the care of their pediatric patients. In January 2024, Lone Peak Dental received investments from BlackRock Impact Opportunities Fund to promote increased access to routine pediatric dental care.

Marquee Dental Partners (Brentwood, Tenn.). Marquee Dental Partners comprises 80 offices throughout the Southeast. The organization is committed to exceptional patient experience and elevating the health of patients and communities.

Max Surgical Specialty Management (Hackensack, N.J.). Max Surgical Specialty Management is a surgeon-led oral and maxillofacial surgical partnership platform launched in 2023. The company is dedicated to partnering with renowned surgeons and supporting doctors with clinical autonomy, financial prosperity and technological innovation. The company supports more than 20 offices in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont. 

MB2 Dental (Dallas). Chris Villanueva founded MB2 Dental in 2007. The dental partnership organization supports more than 700 dental practices across 42 states. The company closed on a $2.3 billion unitranche debt facility earlier this year to fund future growth.

Modis Dental Partners (Orlando, Fla.). With an emphasis on dental implantology, Modis Dental was founded by Dr. Michael Pikos and the Pikos Institute. Modis Dental provides support services in addition to educational tools and technologies to its partners to foster practice success. In July, Modis Dental appointed Roe McFarlane as CEO of its advanced education initiative, which provides comprehensive training to dental implant professionals.

Mortenson Dental Partners (Louisville, Ky.). Mortenson Dental Partners operates more than 130 practices in nine states. The DSO, founded in 1979, is 100% dentist- and employed-owned. 

NextLevel Doctors Group (New York City). NextLevel Doctors Group, launched in August 2023 by NextLevel Practice, is a DSO designed to empower dental clinicians by allowing practice owners to join together and form their own group, which is then sold to a private equity firm. Founded by Gary Kadi, the organization aims to put leverage in the hands of clinicians, ensuring their control and power. The NextLevel Doctors Group focuses on the well-being of clinicians, their teams, and associates, offering coaching on leadership, team unity, and profitability. Additionally, the group helps practitioners educate patients on the oral-systemic connection, with a mission to support associates in overcoming debt.

North American Dental Group (Pittsburgh). In 2008, North American Dental was founded by Ken Cooper and chief medical officer Dr. Andrew Matta, who together built a company on the foundation of delivering empathetic care by providing non-clinical services and clinical guidance. The company promotes a holistic health approach, where, if necessary, dentists collaborate with primary medical providers to ensure patient health needs are met. The DSO is affiliated with over 500 dentists in more than 250 practices. 

Oakpoint (Raleigh, N.C.). Founded in 2019, Oakpoint is focused in North Carolina and the Southeast region. The DSO provides services including human resources, finance, marketing, information technology, patient advocacy and compliance.  

Oral Surgery Partners (St. Louis). Oral Surgery Partners supports over 100 oral surgeons and more than 70 practices across 20 states, allowing surgeons to focus on their expertise while handling management and administrative tasks. Backed by Sheridan Capital Partners, the company recently secured a $75 million credit expansion to fuel growth. Surgeons retain ownership of their practices, benefiting from customized management solutions, HR, marketing, and asset management, ensuring outstanding patient care and business growth.

Park Dental Partners (Roseville, Minn.). Park Dental Partners sits on a foundation of practices with 50 years of experience in the dental industry. Park Dental has more than 90 locations with over 200 doctors in specialities including endodontics, oral maxillofacial surgery, periodontics and pediatric dentistry. In 2023, this organization was voted “Minnesota’s Best Dentist” by readers of the Star Tribune for the third consecutive year.

Pearl Street Dental Partners (Dallas). Pearl Street Dental Partners supports over 35 practices in Texas and Oklahoma. The company is a private equity-backed DSO and was included on the Inc. 5000 for the second year due to its impressive 600% revenue growth rate. Recently, Pearl Street Dental Partners acquired two dental practices in Texas, Brush Dentistry and Derby Dental. Backed by SkyKnight Capital since October 2022, Pearl Street Dental Partners continues to expand its network and support dental practices in the region.

PDS Health (Henderson, Nev.). Pacific Dental Services transformed into PDS Health this year as part of the DSO's commitment to improving patient care through medical-dental integration. The company has spearheaded this initiative in several ways, including opening integrated offices and being the first DSO to implement Epic's EHR system into its network. The organization added its 1,000th office this year.

Peak Dental Services (Colorado Springs, Colo.). Founded in 2008, Peak Dental Services is partnered with dental practices across eight states. The company creates a custom-designed professional development path that includes more than 125 hours of continuing education for each team member. The DSO is led by co-founder and CEO A.J. Peak.

PepperPointe Partnerships (Lexington, Ky.). PepperPointe Partnerships, founded in 2017, supports 82 practices and 135 office locations across Kentucky, New York and Virginia. Each of its group practices are completely owned by the dentists.

Prime Dentistry (Birmingham, Mich.). Prime Dentistry, founded in 2011 by Dr. Ali Saad and Dr. Mohamed Saad, has eight practices throughout the Detroit metro area and has experienced significant growth in recent years. The DSO focuses on educational training to attract and retain dental staff, ensuring the highest standard of care for both team members and patients. Prime Dentistry offers unique, tailored solutions for each practice, providing custom blueprints for smooth transitions. 

Providence Dental Partners (Atlanta). Providence Dental Partners' is dedicated to enhancing patient care, operational efficiency, clinical education and business growth. PDP seeks to stand out from other DSOs by focusing on aligning its goals with its partners to drive growth and prosperity across its platform.

REV One Dental Partners (Dallas). Launched in 2024 by Freedom Dental Partners, REV One Dental prioritizes dentists and their operational autonomy. It is the first DSO to have a regional footprint majority-owned and funded entirely by its founding dentists. CEO Brady Frank created REV One Dental to support dentists who want to maintain majority ownership of their practices. Since its launch, the DSO has completed its first set of acquisitions with nine practices and plans to expand into additional specialties and complete more acquisitions later this year.

Rock Dental Brands (Little Rock, Ark.). Rock Dental Brands is a multispecialty DSO supporting more than 100 offices in Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. Rock Dental Brands has tripled its size in the last four years and is committed to shaping oral healthcare through its investments in technology and its doctors. The company has also received numerous awards for excellence and leadership. 

Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics (Fort Worth, Texas). Rodeo Dental supports 47 practices and more than 900 dental professionals across Texas, Arizona and Colorado. Rodeo Dental has been recognized in the Fortune Impact 20 List and Best for the World by B Lab.

Sage Dental (Boca Raton, Fla.). Sage Dental's growth strategy operates on a balanced model of 50% acquisitions and 50% de novo developments, setting it apart from other branded DSOs. The company maintains high standards for the quality and size of acquisition sites, making it highly selective. In 2024, Sage Dental launched its pediatric dental brand and acquired its first pediatric office. Based in Boca Raton, Florida, Sage Dental also opened two new practices in South Tampa and Viera, expanding its network to over 120 locations across Florida and Georgia.

Select Dental Management (Florham Park, N.J.). Founded in 2018, Select Dental Management supports 37 practices across eight states and Washington, D.C. The DSO is partnered with more than 130 dentists and provides care to more than 125,000 patients each year.

SGA Dental Partners (Richmond Hill, Ga.). SGA Dental Partners is a Thurston Group portfolio DSO serving general and specialty practitioners across the Southeast region. The company hit its 100-practice milestone last year after experiencing remarkable growth in 2023 and 2022. The company received a new $350 million credit facility this year to continue its expansion efforts.

Smilebliss Orthodontics (Metairie, La.). Smilebliss Orthodontics, founded in 2021, offers a unique support model for orthodontists, providing marketing, operational and equipment assistance without requiring them to give up ownership. Unlike traditional DSOs, Smilebliss does not acquire its practices, maintaining independence for its partners. Angela Weber, president of Smilebliss Orthodontics, highlights that the company's growth reflects a demand for alternative support amidst post-COVID challenges like staffing. With a three-year contract and a 5% fee, Smilebliss aligns its success with the growth of its partnered practices, offering a consistent and predictable path to success.

Smile Brands (Irvine, Calif.). Smile Brands supports nearly 650 affiliated practices and more than 7,500 employees. The DSO was founded in 1998 by CEO Steve Bilt and CFO Brad Schmidt. The company has grown its network to affiliates in 29 states.

Smile Doctors (Dallas). Smile Doctors is the largest orthodontics-focused DSO in the U.S. and has continued its rapid expansion in 2024 by adding four new affiliates and 15 locations. Additionally, Smile Doctors opened two new locations this year and plans to open four more later in 2024. With these additions, Smile Doctors now supports more than 450 locations nationwide, further solidifying its presence across 31 states. 

Smile Partners USA (Troy, Mich.). Smile Partners USA supports practices in Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois and Michigan. Founded in 1982, the DSO supports more than 100 total practices and nearly 1,500 employees. The company has a 90% dentist retention rate with an average provider tenure of more than 18 years.

Sonrava Health (Coppell, Texas). Sonrava Health supports nearly 600 offices in 21 states. Its brands consist of both medical and dental companies, including Western Dental and LooksBrite Optometry Centers. Its brands are united by Sonrava's mission to deliver high-quality, convenient and affordable care to patients to advance whole body health.

Southern Orthodontics Partners (Nashville, Tenn.). Southern Orthodontic Partners  launched in 2019 and specializes in supporting orthodontic practices in operational, administrative and strategic capacities while ensuring clinicians maintain clinical autonomy. This specialty DSO is associated with more than 45 orthodontic practices across 13 states and continues to grow, having partnered with multiple Illinois-based practices this year. 

Specialized Dental Partners (Irving, Texas). Specialized Dental Partners is focused on endodontics, periodontics and oral surgery practices. The company is one of the largest specialized DSOs, supporting more than 200 practices across more than 35 states. 

Specialty1 Partners (Houston). Parent company of Endo1 Partners, OS1 Partners and Perio1 Partners, Specialy1 Partners specializes in endodontics, oral surgery and periodontics. In 2022, Inc. magazine recognized Endo1 as one of fastest growing private companies in the Southwest. Specialty1 has more than 320 specialists and 200 affiliated practices over 27 states. 

Straine Dental Management (Sacramento, Calif.). Straine Dental Management was launched in 2022 and has become one of the fastest-growing dental companies. The DSO has hit several milestones this year, including adding its first pediatric office and expanding into Florida, Maine and Arkansas. 

The Aspen Group (Chicago). The Aspen Group, which includes Aspen Dental Management, Inc. and ClearChoice Management Services. The two groups combined support about 1,200 total practices. Collectively, the organization sees 30,000 patients daily and opens a new practice location every four days.

The Smilist (Great Neck, N.Y.). The Smilist has completed 30 practice affiliations in the last two years and is poised for continued growth after securing a $285 million debt facility earlier this year, which includes a commitment of nearly $100 million of new growth capital. The DSO aims to become the largest multispecialty dental health system in the Northeast. 

U.S. Oral Surgery Management (Irving, Texas). U.S. Oral Surgery Management seeks to partner with the best oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the country, supporting a network of more than 180 offices in 27 states. The company recently gained a $150 million credit expansion to support its growth beyond 2024. It also earned the Association of Dental Support Organizations' 2024 Emerging Award for its growth and leadership in the industry. 

Vista Verde Dental Partners (Carmel, Ind.). Vista Verde Dental Partners is a DPO associated with Britely Dentures and Dental Implant Studios, which are located in over seven states. The organization offers comprehensive administrative and operational resources to allow providers to focus on delivering exceptional patient experiences while maintaining equity in the practice’s economic upside.

Western Dental & Orthodontics (Orange, Calif.). Western Dental is one of the largest dental companies in the U.S., operating 560 dental offices in 20 states. Its network also includes more than 4,500 support staff members and more than 9,000 dental providers.
