Dallas-based Smile Doctors, the largest orthodontics-focused DSO in the U.S., has added four affiliates and 15 locations in 2024.
Among the new additions, the company entered Connecticut and Massachusetts, the 30th and 31st states in which Smile Doctors now supports practices, according to a July 24 news release from the company.
The DSO added Otto Orthodontics in Missouri, Smile Construction Orthodontics in Tennessee, Dixon Orthodontics in Connecticut and Massachusetts, and Greater Madison Orthodontics in Wisconsin.
Smile Doctors also opened two de novo locations this year and plans to open four more later in 2024.
The company also built on its joint venture model that was introduced in 2023. The model now supports tuck-in acquisitions, which involve an affiliated partner and Smile Doctors jointly purchasing a location with the intent to rebrand it under the affiliated practice's brand.
Smile Doctors supports more than 450 locations, the release said.
