California, Ohio, Arizona, Colorado and Pennsylvania were the states where DSOs and dental groups were most active with practice additions, acquisitions and openings during May.

- Cal Dental USA acquired LA Dental Braces, which has offices in Los Angeles and San Diego.
- Morrisville, N.C.-based Affordable Care opened Affordable Dentures & Implants practice locations in Vista and Kearny Mesa, Calif.
- Dallas-based MB2 Dental partnered with Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry of La Jolla (Calif.).
- Sacramento, Calif.-based Image Specialty Partners added Hulse Orthodontics in Carlsbad, Calif.
Arizona
- Irving, Texas-based Specialized Dental Partners added Chandler (Ariz.) Implants and Periodontics.
- MB2 Dental partnered with CooperMine Dental Studio in Rancho Sahuarita and Madera Canyon, Ariz.
Colorado
- Affordable Care opened an Affordable Dentures & Implants location in Centennial, Colo.
- MB2 Dental partnered with a dental practice in Castle Pines, Colo.
Ohio
- Cincinnati-based Cordental Group acquired The Healthy Smile Center in Ashtabula, Ohio.
- Effingham, Ill.-based Heartland Dental affiliated with Lake West Dental in Willoughby Hills, Ohio, and Macedonia (Ohio) Dental Arts.
Pennsylvania
- Greenwood Village, Colo.-based ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers opened a location in Chadds Ford, Pa.
- Affordable Dentures & Implants opened a practice location in Ross Township, Pa.
