Atlanta-based Benevis is marking several accomplishments from the last year, including improvements in accessibility and advancements in technology.
Benevis said Dec. 21 that it cared for more than 600,000 patients, 87% of whom were children and 82% of whom were Medicaid or CHIP beneficiaries. The organization also hired more than 150 dentists and 95 hygienists.
The DSO, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in January, currently supports 120 offices in 13 states and Washington, D.C.
Here are seven moves from the company this year:
1. Benevis made three executive appointments: Christopher Toscano as chief of field operations, Kate Stets as CFO and Dominique Szach as director of dental hygiene for its clinical oversight committee.
2. The DSO reported a positive impact on costs of care from its Louisiana practice.
3. The company announced in September it is extending practice hours across its network to include weekday evening hours and Saturdays.
4. Benevis added several pieces of technology at its practices, including digital intraoral sensors, intraoral scanners and MiPACS imaging technology.
5. The DSO hired 22 new dental graduates from seven states.
6. Benevis released a guide for healthcare providers to help patients establish routine dental care to promote overall wellbeing.
7. The company added a cost calculator to help patients understand potential payment and financing options for dental and orthodontic care.
