From new practice openings to industry partnerships, here are 13 moves from three of the largest DSOs in the U.S. that have taken place since June 16:
Heartland Dental (Effingham, Ill.)
1. Heartland Dental established Heartland Dental University to provide continuing education opportunities to its affiliated dentists and employees.
2. Heartland Dental is building a $1.5 million practice in Katy, Texas. Construction on the 4,200-square-foot location is expected to be completed by Feb. 1, 2024.
3. The company is building out space to relocate one of its affiliate offices, Downtown Dental Associates, in Jacksonville, Fla. The practice will take up 3,856 square feet in the building under a 10-year lease as part of the $750,000 project. The practice is expected to begin operations in the new office by the end of the third quarter of this year.
4. The DSO is also opening two new locations in Jacksonville, Fla. The first location will entail converting an old bank with 4,123 square feet for $627,480. The company will also construct a 4,260-square-foot building for $950,000.
5. The DSO awarded a total $18,000 in scholarships to 18 students in dental hygiene programs in Florida.
Aspen Dental (Chicago)
1. Aspen Dental opened its first Nevada office Aug. 10.
2. Madisonville, Ky., announced a $30 million, 155,000-square-foot development project that will include an Aspen Dental location.
3. Real estate investment company Four Corners Property Trust acquired an Aspen Dental and WellNow Urgent Care dual-tenet property for $3.3 million.
4. Seattle-based University of Washington School of Dentistry partnered with Aspen Dental dentists to offer its students a chance to gain clinical experience in a DSO setting.
Pacific Dental Services (Irvine, Calif.)
1. Pacific Dental Services completed its 40th international service trip and is celebrating more than $11 million in donated services.
2. Pacific Dental Services and Fountain Valley, Calif.-based MemorialCare will open their first integrated medical-dental office in Irvine, Calif.
3. CEO and Founder Stephen Thorne IV told Becker's PDS plans to surpass 1,000 by the end of 2023.
4. The Pacific Dental Services Foundation awarded $70,000 in summer scholarships to 17 students studying dental assisting.
