From practice affiliations and industry partnerships to new investments, here are 14 updates from DSOs with fewer than 300 practices that have taken place since the start of 2023:
1. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Premier Care Dental Management hit 115 offices after acquiring North Shore Implant & Oral Surgery Associates in Long Island, N.Y. The company also added practices in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut while marking 10 years in its partnership with dental software company Planet DDS.
2. Atlanta-based DSO Benevis released its Dental Home Playbook, a guide for healthcare providers to help patients establish routine dental care to promote overall wellbeing. It also added a cost calculator to help patients understand potential payment and financing options for dental and orthodontic care.
3. Richmond Hill, Ga.-based SGA Dental Partners expanded its network in 2022 by adding 55 office locations.
4. Chicago-based Bright Direction Dental added Finley Dentistry to its network.
5. Reno, Nev.-based Bluetree Dental received a $32 million investment from private equity firm Clairvest Group.
6. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Marquee Dental Partners acquired Parkside Family Dental in Louisville (Ky.).
7. Boca Raton, Fla.-based Sage Dental partnered with Tracy Dinh, DMD, in Lawrenceville, Ga., and Maulin Patel, DMD, in Brandon, Fla.
8. Raleigh, N.C.-based DSO Oakpoint hit 40 practices after partnering with Signature Family Dentistry in Holly Springs and Angier, N.C.
9. Tempe, Ariz.-based Gen4 Dental Partners announced it added 40 new practices and entered four new states in 2022.
10. Denton, Texas-based Community Dental Partners affiliated with Corpus Christi (Texas) Staples Smile Magic.
11. Louisville, Ky.-based Mortenson Dental Partners launched "A healthy smile means a healthier you," a campaign to increase the awareness of the link between dental and overall health.
12. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Dental365 ranked No. 19 out of 50 companies on Crain's New York Business 2022 Fast 50.
13. Private equity firm HGGC invested in Provo, Utah-based Dentive.
14. Great Neck, N.Y.-based The Smilist announced that it added 15 locations and entered Pennsylvania and Connecticut in 2022.
