Several small-scale DSOs have worked this year to expand their networks, add to their leadership teams and forge industry partnerships to enhance patient care.
Here is where three entrepreneurial DSOs stand in 2022:
Guardian Dentistry Partners (Miami)
Guardian Dentistry Partners has added several practices to its network this year, expanding its network to more than 100 practices in 11 states.
The DSO closed the second quarter with additions in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Michigan. In August, it appointed Max Van Vliet vice president of partnership development to work with potential doctor partners on practice goals.
The DSO is on track to reach 146 practices by the end of this year.
Sage Dental (Boca Raton, Fla.)
Sage Dental has added 14 practices and more than 140 clinicians across Florida and Georgia in 2022.
In addition to practice growth, Sage Dental has focused on technology initiatives to enhance patient care, inking partnerships with dental artificial intelligence company Pearl and Japanese clear align manufacturer SheepMedical.
The DSO supports 85 dental practices in two states.
Dental365 (New Hyde Park, N.Y.)
Dental365 has 100 locations in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. It recently opened its 100th location, in Brick Township, N.J.
The company, along with Premier Care Dental Management, acquired Dental Care New Jersey, an eight-location DSO. The company placed No. 89 on Inc. magazine's list of the fastest growing private companies in the Northeast in March, experiencing 102 percent growth during a two-year period.
It also appointed Thomas Eicke, RN, its new president, and David Jordan as its CFO.
Dental365 has plans to open at least 20 more practices this year.
