Heartland Dental, Aspen Dental and Pacific Dental Services are some of the nation's biggest DSOs — here's what they've been up to the past two months.
Heartland
Heartland Dental Founder Richard Workman, DMD, and his wife, Angela Workman, donated $5 million to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry. The donation will be used to establish the school's Dr. and Mrs. Richard E. Workman Dental Leadership Endowment Fund.
The DSO made public that they elected a new chief human resources officer, Sarah Jackson April 11.
"This is an exciting time to join Heartland Dental as the company continues to realize rapid growth and expansion. It's a privilege to join this team of talented individuals who are partnering with our supported doctors to change the way that people access high-quality dental care. I'm thrilled to begin this new chapter with Heartland Dental," Ms. Jackson said in a news release.
Aspen
Since December 2020, Aspen has trained more than 1,400 dentists on dental implant services. By the end of 2022, they aim to train 300 more dentists in surgical implant procedures and 450 in restorative implantology.
The Aspen Group made public Feb. 28 that they will open an oral health center for underserved patients in Chicago in summer 2022. The Oral Care Center for Excellence will provide free dental care and procedures to Illinois residents.
Pacific
Pacific Dental Services launched an integrated medical-dental practice in Las Vegas, Sahara Health Group, which began accepting patients April 5. The launch coincides with the DSO's Mouth-Body Connection initiative, which aims to educate patients on the link between oral health and overall well-being.
Pacific Dental Services made public March 30 that it has produced more than 3 million same-day dental restorations at its partner practices. The DSO's practices use Dentsply Sirona's Cerec CAD/CAM system to create dental restoration products.
