From a move to new headquarters to continuing expansion during a pandemic, Chicago-based Aspen Dental had a banner year and is continuing the momentum in 2021.
The DSO currently has more than 850 independently owned and operated offices across 42 states in its network.
Here are five notes from 2020:
1. The DSO announced plans to move its national headquarters from East Syracuse, N.Y., to Chicago. Through the move, scheduled for fall 2021, 300 to 500 new workers will be hired.
2. Aspen Dental expanded its implant offerings with Carestream in February.
3. During the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the DSO temporarily closed its practices and only treated emergency cases. An emergency dental hotline was established for patients and turned away patients with flu-like symptoms.
4. Aspen Dental deployed a digital check-in system at all of its offices nationwide in June to reduce its environmental impact and save time for staff and patients.
5. Aspen Dental announced plans to acquire ClearChoice in November 2020 and closed the deal Dec. 30.
Becker's Dental + DSO Review reported on 10 new Aspen Dental openings from January 2020 through January 2021:
