Differentiating dental service organizations while streamlining care coordination is among the greatest challenges DSOs face today, according to Heartland Dental CEO Rick Workman, DMD.
The CEO of the Effingham, Ill.-based DSO was a keynote at the 2019 Summit of the Association of Dental Support Organizations in April. There he discussed teledentistry and other opportunities in the dental industry.
Dr. Workman highlighted teledentistry as a major game changer for dentists and DSOs looking to improve patients' experiences.
"Staying on the cutting edge of technology that enhances patients' experiences gives a dentist a leg up in creating lasting patient relationships,' Dr. Workman said. "Teledentistry is a great example of this because it simplifies and streamlines care delivery. Telemedicine is where healthcare is going in general, and that progression is driving positive changes in dentistry."
In 2017, 71 percent of healthcare providers had adopted telemedicine solutions, according to a Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society survey.
