Orange, Calif.-based Western Dental affiliate Brident Dental & Orthodontics agreed to take part in a value-based care and payment model under Texas' Medicaid program.
Here are three things to know:
1. Brident Dental & Orthodontics supports 34 affiliated dental practices throughout Texas. The dental service organization signed the agreement with DentaQuest in mid-September.
2. The value-based contract will extend through 2019, representing a step away from fee-for-service payments.
3. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is encouraging DSOs and other medical systems to participate in value-based programs.
