Several dental practices in Washington have received threatening letters in the mail, KIRO 7 News reported March 11.

The letters, which reportedly urge dentists to end their lives, were sent to several dental offices throughout the Western region of the state. The letters appear to be sent from the Spokane area and have the same fake name and similar addresses on the envelopes, KIRO 7 reported.

Investigators do not believe there is a threat to the public, and no suspects have been identified yet. A spokesperson with the Renton Police Department said a suspect can be charged with either harassment or assault, depending on whether a person’s life is threatened and how the victims feel.

The Washington State Dental Association said in a statement to KIRO 7 that it is aware of the letters and is working to support the dental community. The association encouraged dentists who have received a letter to contact local law enforcement.
