A Pennsylvania woman convicted of working as an unlicensed dental assistant has been sentenced to at least 18 months in prison.
Rose Horne admitted to making false representations about her certifications, claiming that she was licensed to perform advanced and expanded dental functions, according to a Feb. 3 news release from the Pennsylvania attorney general.
Ms. Horne was arrested in April 2024 after pretending to be licensed to perform functions including installing crowns and bridges, filing down fillings, administering local anesthesia and assisting with root canal surgeries.
Between October 2022 and October 2023, Ms. Horne was hired by three different dentists in Pennsylvania while lying about her qualifications.
Ms. Horne pleaded guilty to felony prohibited use of a radiation source and misdemeanor impersonating a holder of a professional or occupational license, the release said.
