Michigan dental nonprofit closes 6 offices amid financial woes

My Community Dental Centers, a Michigan nonprofit organization serving underserved communities, has closed six of its offices due to financial constraints, West Michigan Newspop reported Jan. 8.

MCDC currently has more than 30 offices throughout the state, according to its website. The offices that will be closing are located in Grand Haven, Ionia, Monroe, Roscommon, Spalding and St. Johns, Mich.

The organization decided to close the offices after completing a comprehensive operational sustainability evaluation as it faces rising care costs, workforce challenges and demands for higher wages, West Michigan Newspop reported. The closures are aimed at helping the nonprofit stabilize its operations, reduce debt and direct resources to strengthen its remaining offices.

MCDC is working with patients to transition their care to nearby providers, and is also helping affected staff members relocate to its other offices or find alternative positions.
